Insomnia

Oh, how the moon shines tonight!

How it creeps in through my window and into my mind

Waking me up, keeping me hushed, shaking my thoughts

Making shadows and playing with puppets on the wall

Losing its luster in my darkened room

But oh! I can still see it

It never leaves my eyes

Even when I sleep it is there and does not go

And I wake again to the moon shining bright

Does it have no mercy?

I stay with the moon every night

My body seconds away from sleep

But no, the moon will not let me go

Not tonight, or any night!

The moon will never leave me

Oh, how the moon shines tonight!
