Insomnia

Do you ever get tired?

of the gears spinning
of the sound of metal spoke rasping 'gainst metal notch
of the clamour in your head that just won't let up
of your mind getting up the moment you lay down
of processing things too quickly sometimes and too slowly at others
of being unable to keep the frenetic motion of the gears active when you wish
of the niggling worry that the gears will spin without catching in emergencies
of solving progressively worse case scenarios
of not being sure if you'll remember your plans if needed
of endless thoughts
of endless blank wastelands
of apathy
of emotions too strong, good or bad, making you backpedal, afraid of being overrun
of all the little failings of your mind, really.

Do you ever get tired of it?
