Insomnia
Go to bed at nine on the dot,
just to lie awake for five hours.
Awake.
Tired,
but awake.
Going through the what-ifs.
The mistakes.
The bad memories.
Everthing that delivers shame
makes a visit whilst you attempt sleep.
Desperately want sleep.
So tired.
You finally fall into slumber
just to awake periodically
throuhout the night.
The only dreams dreamt
are surely nightmares.
Sleep is necessary for survival,
yet sleep is poison.
You're better off
not trying to sleep.
