Insomnia

I sit here in my cotton throne.

Lying down like a corpse that hasn't stopped breathing

Dreaming with my eyes open,

not falling asleep for one second.

As the image of the grey hem and elastic

Runs through my brain like

a disease runs through blood.

Look at me, so helpless.

My body becomes restless

My mind races, thinking of you

And only you.

Where are we to go?

What do we do?

Where did we come from?

How did this all happen?

How did I get here, lying in the absence of death itself.

Breathing every breath,

counting the seconds until we meet.

Insomnia keeps me awake

But you keep me alive.
