Insomnia
This bed holds dark secrets
Tucked away in soft white sheets
Muffled screams
Hot wet tears
Cold sweats, fast heartbeats
Fetal, curling, tightly wound terrors
Bedtime stories to a dead boy
Fingers swirling in tiny black curls
Vulnerability, thick and dense
Smoldered by misplaced anger
Puddles of rage
Bubbling up from the center like hot oil
Staining white to black
Filled with slick shiny coats of shame
Sheetrock dust and shock
Trembling fingers searching for light
Heavy blankets of emptiness
Numb and void
Whispers in the night
Pleading for mercy
Waking in the early morning
With a taste for my own death
Ravenous
Hungry for it
A silence to all this noise
I call upon the warrior in me
Slaying thoughts that keep me small
Fight harder
Fright stronger
Don't let them down
No wonder I cant sleep
