Insomniac Maniac

Sleep The subtle traces Of a life once lived (imagined) The trance of disposal, Human, rendered, Paralyzed Immobilized. Sleep: The escape that lingers, The liberation captivation And my limbs hang limp I wouldn't trade it for the world The necessity I deprive More than the body I deprave The chance to not know I exist To not know I know The feeling of not feeling: The forgetting. The dream Extended, Letting me live a better life, One entirely my own. The better life: The darkness death (Or rather the absence of living) Insomniac (And they wonder why I'm unhappy) Maybe you can spend years Curled up in your coma And obliterate the great anxiety (The terrible realities) And I'm stuck here, Suffocating In the abysmal night That attempts to obscure the agony We all feel (and our misled notions of a Great Protector, a life after death, and a meaning to feeling anything more than worthless) With the pretense Of letting Us Sleep.
