An Insomniac's Lullaby

In the night I am

   weak-

    scared-

     vulnerable.

Time won't move forward.

The ticking of the clock progresses.

    My thinking mind transgresses.

Fear consumes my veins.

Thought's have lost control of their reins.

     Get the perfect grades.

     Be the perfect daughter.

     Get into the perfect college.

     Be the perfect friend.

     Get the perfect job.

Be the perfect girl others want you to be...

Do I have all of this, in me?

Are these thoughts of perfection all I'm ever amounted to be?

   Breathe.

    Breathe.

     Breathe.

The night can hold trouble.

The night brings forth the thoughts,

that I try my best to rid my head of.

   I am not a genius.

I am not always the perfect daughter.

I am not always the perfect friend.

      I am, imperfect.

        I am...

Who Am I?

Are these thoughts of imperfection all I'll ever see?

That's not who I want to be...

When the daylight breaks,

These thoughts begin to dissipate.

Morning brings light.

Morning brings a fight,

   A fight to push on,

    A fight to conquer,

A fight to overcome the night.

It felt like the  dark night would remain forever.

But then a light came through, and I felt better.

I know I can make it throught the night.

I am, stronger than this fear.

I am, worth more than my insecurities mislead me.

I am, a warrior battling an army on the inside.

I am making it through the day.

I am, going to be okay.
