Insomniacs winter

Home is a place of safety, is it really

Yet what if imagination is the only hope against a bitter reality

So afraid to leave and go

Though staying is a terror all it's own

Trying to find the words to hide behind

When fear is the monster that hides inside

And the reality only feels more terrifying

Staring out the window, watching as snowflakes fall

shadows of my deepest fears soak the walls

Like watching a million halos slowly decend

As if to say in ti!e we all lose our wings yet for some it's just faster

Yet the warped distortions that cover paint and plaster

Spiteful shades I all but befriend

It's much like seeing your hope melt away. it all comes out in the wash, honor or shame

All the while your dreams erode to the sand from which it came

To wish on flying balls of light to which we once used to trust

Though shooting stars are nothing more than ice and dust
