Inspiration

Art captivates my mind.

Captivates me. Time is nothing

When the goal is to produce a masterpiece.

Inspiration is everywhere -

From a carpenter building a wall

To a writer expressing words on paper.

Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet - classics.

Banksy, Richard Serra, Damien Hirst - today.

But, my high school art teacher

Has taught me some of the greatest lessons.

Sometimes in order to achieve the end result you desire,

You have to apply something you would not expect to work.

In order to achieve a feeling of light,

You must first establish a feeling of darkness.

It can serve as a metaphor for finding light and hope

When life gets chaotic and overwhelming.

Is this art?

Or is this life?

Art is how I learn best.

Art is the getaway for me - my Shangri La.

So I thank you, Mrs. Danowitz, for without art,

I would be lost.
