Inspiration
I am easily inspired;
I find meaning
around every bend,
and everything in me
wants to open my chest
to let it resound deep
within.
What opens this cave?
It's sunsets, smears of colors mixed just right.
It's the ocean, pounding the shore,
pulling me to the deep.
It's the mountains, towering over cities, offering shelter for creatures.
It's the forest, wide open space crowded with trees.
It's gently falling snow, bringing a newness that covers what is dirty and dead.
It's sunrises, a promise of a new day with brilliant pastels.
But it's not just what is seen from a peek out my window.
I am inspired by the stories,
of the working moms who have a dream and
chase after it;
of the men and women who are afraid everytime they enter their workplace
but still show up;
of the children who drop simple truths,
wisdom from the mouth of angels;
of the old folks who wake up everyday,
knowing it could be their last;
of those in cancer wards and battle fields;
of brave steps down the aisle
to the one they love;
of those who go beyond themselves
to touch the lives of others;
of the few who will not be silenced
and speak for those who have no voice.
Stories like these can be found
everywhere
if we just look closer.
These are found in the everyday,
the ordinary,
the mundane,
and are only seen by those who are looking for them.
And when I see them,
when the bubble in my sternum is popped
by a single tear,
I find
hope.
I find
I'm not alone.
It's going to be ok.
And I keep going.
