Inspiration
Inspiration
Where do I find it you ask?
I don’t find inspiration in the athletes with all the trophies.
I find it in the story of the kid who’s only way to college was by pouring everything they had into their dreams.
I don’t find it in the people that have mountains of money.
I find it in the smile of a boy who’s room is a broken down Amazon box put together with duct tape.
I don’t find inspiration in a person who has it all together.
I find it in the person who can’t buy another warranty for their heart because it has been broken too many times to be fixed.
And yet, they still have enough heart to ask if WE are okay.
Inspiration to me is the fact my grandmother has had to bury three husbands she’s loved dearly, and she still has the faith to pray.
Inspiration to me is the friend who never asks for anything and when we give them every reason to leave.
They stay.
I find inspiration in the strength of someone who sings through tears and falls on her knees, while moving everyone else in the room to tears as they stand on their feet.
Inspiration doesn’t come by pretending to be okay, it comes from watching life strike someone again and again.
And all they do is put their hand to their chest and say “There’s still a beat”.
We all are broken and battered. And many of you look around and put your hands in the air, and say, “I’m just tired”.
But I promise you. Your story of how you get up everyday.
That. That makes me inspired.
