Inspiration
I put my pencil to a blank page
And struggle to capture my swirling thoughts
A white paper stares back at me
Waiting to tell a story
That has yet to be written
It has always astounded me
How a combination of twenty-six letters
Can evoke a storm of emotions
Rage, Agony, Fear
Joy, Love, Hope
We use the same words and twist them
To show a truth
If only the truth was as tender as the thoughful lies
I try to put my words together to create a perfect harmony
But I continue to stumble in sync to the tune of a passing drunkard
I yearn for the words to flow
As naturally as a mother
Gently brushing back sweat-soaked hair from a feverish brow
A waterfall cascading over a rocky edge into the open pool below
A rainbow shining down, a reflection gleaming in your glowing eyes
A passing butterfly's wings tickling your cheek
As naturally as breathing
My true desire is to show the world
My thoughts, my hopes, my dreams
If only writing held the simplicity of drawing a breath
Inhale
Exhale
Dream
Create
Inhale
Exhale
Breathe
Just breathe
To write is to show the world a piece of your soul
Your most sacred treasure
You can try and pen lies
But inside your deceit your truth is a glaring light
You can't hide behind words
For words are your escape
Your dream, your hope
So here I sit dreaming and hoping
Waiting for a second of inspiration
Waiting for the words to come
