Inspiration is Everywhere

Notebook in hand,

Pencil at ready,

Heartbeat racing,

Trying to keep my hands steady.

Sitting on a bench in New York Square,

Scanning passing people everywhere.

My thoughts are wondering,

Through the plots I’m pondering.

Characters appearing out of this air,

Faces forming both rough and fair.

Music pounding in my head,

New scenes unfolding with the ever-changing beat,

Remembering the times I’ve laughed and bled,

Dreaming of who I’d love to meet.

Inspiration surrounds you and me,

If you open your eyes, it’s in everything you see:

The people you’ve loved and the ones that pass,

In every building or blade of grass,

Your dreams and your nightmares,

A song you hear and the meaning it shares.

Imagination is a playground,

I have people, dreams, and worlds living in my mind.

It’s a place for creativity to abound,

Where reality and fiction are intertwined.

Everyone has a story,

It may be glum or full of glory.

Some may begin with once upon a time,

Others could choose to rhyme.

It was a dark and stormy night,

Or maybe a furious fight.

Whether it’s memories or mistakes,

Whether it’s blessings you receive or things for which you pray,

There’s inspiration in love and heartbreaks.

Look for your inspiration every day.
