Inspirational
they always ask
What inspires you?
which presents the task
of viewing the past anew
I give them my answer
a simple one I suppose
they expect ones of books,
philosophers, lectures, and such
but those are all about looks
and leaves only one true thing as my crutch
all of these trivial opinions are just that
what becomes inspirational is what changes you
words, written and spoken,
leave something to be desired
they leave you with a token
but never feeling quite inspired
what becomes inspirational
is how you devour these words
and make them yours
so that is my answer
maybe not quite as simple at first glance
inspiration is change
for change is inevitable
you may think this strange
but that is preferable
for you have made them yours
and now you hold power plentiful
if you take care to notice
the most famous writers
and poets
leave your mind brighter
with just a flick of their wrist
they have created a whirlwind
you have been kissed
with the blessing of thought
what comes with this thought
is what holds such greatness
the change that is wrought
from the overcoming of sedateness
to clarify here
this is what I mean to say
without eyes, words disappear
is what I’d like to portray
only you hold the power
to translate words and sentences
which grow in your mind like a flower
until they are bursting with messages
messages of what you may ask
well I cannot answer that for you
the only way to find out
is to ask yourself
What inspires you?
