What can it take to inspire a soul

But a grouping of certain words.

It is simple and complex

How a sentence can reflect

The yearning to live we possess.

All our thoughts are so alike

That when spread out they are

We recognize ourselves in them.

There are books with stories

Full of images and wonders

And characters that make you think.

Their adventures you desire,

And their sayings you quote,

And the pages you digest like

turkey dinner on a holiday.

And the events that you read

Give you courage and a need 

for fulfilling all your dreams.

What can it take to inspire a soul

The yearning to live we possess.

All our thoughts are so alike

That when spread out they are

We recognize ourselves in them.

There are songs with lyrics

Full of sentiment and rhythm

And catchy tunes you memorize.

Genres you come to favor,

And old music is always better,

And the beautifully sung phrases

make you feel fully connected.

And to the beat you dance

Even if your moves are clumsy,

Because no one is around

And joy bursts in your chest

So you have to let it out somehow.

All it takes to inspire a soul 

Is to share emotion and thought,

As we all have the same origin

Which we call love and light

Although at times we wear a mask,

We will always come back
