Integrity
I have always been a teacher's pet
I do not care about other's judgment
I never cheat or lie and I never forget
I was given an assignment
My math teacher assigned me a mission
To write the names of those who misbehaved
I agreed to it, knowing it's a difficult position
"She's a teacher pet," the other student engraved
As I was writing down the names, the class noticed
They laughed, as I remained focused.
Even though I was tempted to lie about the names
And prevent the class from the trouble ahead
I knew it wasn't right, so I got the blame
And the class hated me instead
However I was glad that I did not soil my integrity
But rather reject popularity
I display integrity on a daily basis
Whether it's helping my sister with her chore
Or standing up for someone using words and phrases
Integrity is what I strive for.
I do not consider what people will think of me
Despite the cruel laughs hidden behind books
I do the right thing because it is the key
The key to a better outlook.
