2 For if the message spoken through angels proved to be so firm that every violation or disobedience received its just penalty, 3 how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was first communicated through the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard him,

Remember Lot’s wife or the Israelites leaving Egypt

And Balaam’s influence over the tribes of Israel

Who can forget these things and secretly not judge them?

Who will rise above these examples used in shame?

Even in an obedient Will, the former way of life is hidden

Or at least the tendencies that surface way too often

These make obedience at times, not as needed diligence

And waters drown intentions and bring ridicule to scoffers

We have our likes and dislikes in a thread of the old life

An unbroken strand inherited as a human trade in fact

It comes from a lack of feeling like our little effort shows

Indifference and anger as we in obedience very often lack
