Internal landscape
if I let you into my mind you wouldn't stay
The rooms are too dark and the silence too loud.
it's a place where the shadows stretch like regret,
And every forgotten memory is waiting to be found.
You'd see the brittle things I try to protect,
The broken glass of hope, the threads of doubt,
The constant war between what's kept in and let out.
You'd feel the weight of every unsaid apology,
And the cold, hard logic of my internal geology.
No, if I let you into my mind, you wouldn't stay,
You'd gather your light and quickly slip away.
For in that quiet hollow, where the echoes dwell,
The mirror shows a truth you couldn't bear to tell.
You'd find the blueprints of all the failures built,
The quiet resignation, the inherited guilt.
So keep your distance, stay bright and serene,
i'll keep this internal landscape forever unseen.
And if you heard the music played in my dark halls,
it's a discordant symphony of broken calls.
A melody that crawls beneath the skin,
The sound of silence where the noise should begin.
it's the rhythm of a heart that beats too slow,
The place where secrets go when they have nowhere else to go.
So turn your ear away, keep the vibrant, outer sun,
The difficult listening in my mind is never done.
