My Grammy asked me to visit her, one day after school.
Quickly I agreed, as long as I could swim in her pool.
She lathered me with compliments and made me a meal.
But after I ate she told me what was the deal.
She brought me to a pink room with roses on the wall.
I told her to hurry up. She was always one to stall.
She looked up from her lashes, her cheeks were painted pink.
This was the only time I had ever seen Grammy so meek.
She pointed to the screen and in the corner left.
I saw what made my Grammy think she was experiencing theft.
I clicked the little icon and upon the screen it blew.
Two little elves were dancing round a pot of steaming stew.
I laughed and looked at Grammy who was looking back at me.
She looks so scared, so frightened. So I started out with, “Gee,
Grammy. This is not a big deal.
Just click the ‘x’ on the top right so that it will be sealed.”
I moved the pointer to the ‘x’ and checked for her reaction.
I clicked the button then looked at her smiling in satisfaction.
“One down, two to go,” her voice became so quirky.
She took the mouse and moved it down. “No need to be so jerky,”
My voice was cocky, my smile sweet as I awaited her response.
Instead she smiled with squinted eyes and looked back at the fonts.
My eyes, surprised, returned to the screen which now had a new tab.
But on my shoulder I felt a sting and then a pointed jab.
I jerked to Grammy and she looked at me with eyes as wide as doe’s.
She held in a snicker under her left whisker and would not let it show.
I raised my brow and then I lifted my hand to retaliate.
But before I blinked she had hit me twice, I knew I was too late.
I shrugged and turned and looked at the screen that once was completely bare.
She let out a laugh and then sat back down but not before swatting my hair.
“Thank you for your help, my very favorite granddaughter.”
“Funny you should say that, when I was almost slaughtered.”
She let out a chuckle then pointed to the new tab on the screen.
She opened the Facebook login screen and it was then I saw her mean.
She pointed to the flashing number and then sighed in frustration.
I laughed and said, “Calm down, it’s just another notification.”
She clicked her tongue and shuffled her feet, it was then I realized my mistake.
Her furious eyes after being pitied sent me looking for an escape.
Before I stood she pushed me back and that was when I shivered.
She started to tickle all over my body. See, Grammy is a giver.
