Introducing the New Me

Introducing the new me
Nah not the guy you wanted to see
But the man I was meant to be
But before I introduce you to the new me let’s take a trip
A trip I call my life

Lets start this trip in the past
Where life for me started kind of fast
A 18 year old single mother, a crackheaded father who isn’t even on my birth certificate
I was hoping these struggles wouldn’t last
But I was mistaken, cus two years later my sister was born
Although a miracle, this situation made life a little more difficult
We were constantly moving because my mom couldn’t afford to take care of us on her own
13 times I was forced to call a new place home

I guess you can say I had things pretty rough
But I would argue this situation made me kind of tough
You see failure births growth and adaptation
It was the failure of the beginning of my life that created the foundation
That became my salvation.
That salvation that became dreams

You see, All I had were dreams
A dream that I’d no longer have to move
A dream that hopefully the rest of my life would go smooth
A dream that one day I can grow up and help kids not go through what I went through
But dreams are just dreams until they become a reality

And the reality is that dreams will stay dreams until I make them an actuality
I just have to remember to never fit the mold, be different, and create my own legacy
To never stay stagnant
And Remember
What is for me is not going to pass me

But without knowing where you came from it’s impossible to explore who you will become

SO
Dear little me,
I promise to become all that you wanted to be
It was after all your dreams and goals that held the key
That unlocked my potentiality
To become who I am and who I’ve yet to be

Dear future me,
I hope you grab every opportunity that you see
I hope you’ll one day realize that time isn’t free
I hope you’ll learn how to distinguish when to agree
And when to take a knee
I just wish you become all that little wish you were to be
I think I am ready
To introduce the new me
