The Introduction
Hi.
I Am
Well I’m not sure
Do I state my name? Does that give me an identity?
Or should I say what I wished to be called? Is that how I perceive myself?
Will you judge me by my hand shake? Is the texture of my skin what’s important? The color?
Or my grasp? Hard to do it perfectly. Maybe I grabbed to tight or left your hand limp.
Does this reflect my grasp on reality? Never able to dream because I’m faced with the harsh trials of life, or I dream too much because I need to escape.
Would you look at my face and admire the amount of time it takes to make it up?
Trying to cover every imperfection.
Or would you be turned off from the way I cover up my natural beauty?
Is a smile important to you?
Does is show you that I’m happy?
Or does it show how I hide my emotions behind a caked up mirage?
Is the twinkle in my eye a bonus because it attracts?
Maybe I get a deduction because it’s a quality that doesn’t make me uniformed.
Are the curves on my body my best asset?
Excluding the curve on my face?
Or is my curvaceous mouth the only curve that matters?
Does the switch in my walk make other women envy me?
Or would they join the runway of the world and pose for 3 seconds at the end?
Stands up.
Smile.
Reaches hand out, grabs hand, shakes.
Hello, my name is Allyson Abrams.
