Introspection
From time’s inception has the battle been
To fight, to risk, to murder, and to save,
Whatever combination made us live,
And barbarism made of man a slave.
Yet as the sands of time erode away,
We find ourselves abandoned on this rock,
And with no ending so definitive
To give us hope, we came up with a keen
Conception: man alive is rightly free.
The generations wasted months and years
Deciphering the perfect words to say,
The very tools that welded shut the lock
To Understanding, Knowledge, Truth, and more.
Around me, others basking in the light,
Cannot with their illusive logic see
Its good-intentioned motives only blind.
Though body be as able as the wind,
The chains exist out of the realm of sight.
One day we all will realize our plight:
None of the keys we make open the door;
The world in which we live is far from free.
