Introspection from the Outside
Dear A.J,
It’s been quite a while since we’ve gotten to sit and chat. Who we were? I forgot about that.
You spent so much of your high school years trying to find yourself
So we decided to be anyone else
We held onto people who let go of us
Transformed again, because we aren’t enough
We slammed straight to rock bottom
Resounding only cause our heart’s hollow
Only current solitude lets us echo so we can hear
We know that we will find ourselves, our time is creeping near
Cast aside past thoughts, old ways, ancient doubts
It’s fine you don’t have it all figured out
You’ll make your parents proud
By being a surgeon
….no
Forensic scientist!
...no
Translator..
…..no
You can make them proud of you
By being what's natural and true
Let your arts be your wings that lift you
Icarus, without a heated issue
Tell the false me that we won’t miss them
We’re taking over this ship, the real me at the helm
Sincerely Us,
A.J
