Introverts

We’re a mysterious breed because we share one common trait:

We prefer to be alone.

Many question and comment on our strange behavior,

(when we do get out)

“I haven’t talked to you in forever!”

“Man, you need to get out more.”

“Are you unhappy?”

Most of us just nod and laugh,

Try to play it off as a joke and defend ourselves,

But the truth is, we like it this way.

We create our own little bubble where we are perfectly content

Our preferred companion is a book,

Perhaps our cat,

Or the internet.

We appreciate silence.

We like to keep people at arm’s length.

This is our comfort zone, and we wish people would respect it.

But unfortunately, they don’t understand us

And in return, we don’t understand them.
