Invisibility: The Ultimate Superpower

I am invisible.

Well, I am not literally transparent,

And I do reflect the proper wavelengths of light

To be seen by the naked human eye.

But even then,

My presence is not significant to those around me.

I am seen but not acknowledged,

And I am heard but not listened to.

Seeing is something the majority of the population

Is capable of doing.

Acknowledgement and appreciation require true effort,

Effort that no one has ever dared to waste on me.

To all, I am just a wall

Rather than a physical being with joys and sorrows,

A physical being who desires to share

Her emotions and ideas with the world.

But I refuse to let society forcefully

Throw the cloak of invisibility over me.

I will voice my opinions out loud,

No matter how grating these ideas may be

To the ears of others.

I must recognize my own self-worth

Before the world can recognize me.
