Invisible

I walk through the halls,

With lockers on walls.

Students rushing past,

Without sparing a glance.

I know those I know will look at me

But only those I talk to will talk to me

Going to the gym, open, big, and sweaty

Splitting to teams, this is gonna be messy

Last one called is yours truly

I think that is just unruly

Raising my hands to grasp for the ball

My calls bouncing around like the ball on a wall

Teammates run past me, shouting and screaming

The ball wizzes past with me trying to reach it

I stand in the middle, invisible as it seems

If only someone will pass to me.

My only friend, sweet as she is

Tosses me the ball without second guess

I throw with all my might at the goal

And my team erupts with a roar

High-fives are all around

Till the game continues without a sound

The squeaks of shoes on the floor

Teachers watching from the door

After showing them what I got

You’d think I have another shot

But the boys continue tossing it back and forth

And the girls need a chance to show what they’re worth

I sink to the floor, Invisible once again.

The game continues for hours on end

Finally released from this unfair torture

I rush out of the room and turn the corner

Walking through the halls is how it began

But I still wish I had taken a stand

Couldn’t I have given them a piece of my mind?

Then it would have turned out just fine

But no, boys don’t ever listen to sense

Not even in the case of any event

They never have something for the other

Only rude comments and lots of bother

I only want to show them how strong I can be

If only they would just listen to me!

Boys should know that girls can win

And we will make that fact sink in!

But as I walk with head held high

No one dares look me in the eye.
