Invisible
Her mouth opens and closes as a fish’s would,
But there are no sounds escaping.
Whether it is she who makes no noise
Or it is they who have no ears matters not.
She closes her mouth, not speaking as a girl should,
For they simply hurry along, too busy for caring.
Whether she exists there before their ploys,
Or she is simply a bit of air matters not.
Her feet begin the fade as she feared they could,
And not one person striding by seems to be noticing.
Whether she stands tall and full of poise,
Or she allows a single tear to fall matters not.
Her torso goes and then her head, as if covered in a hood,
But no one cares to watch as she is disappearing.
Whether she is simply cast aside like a child’s old toys
Or there is someone looking for her matters not.
Her face turns to air as no one’s should,
Yet somehow each passerby keeps ignoring.
Whether her very being the world destroys
Or she be born cursed with invisibility matters not.
