Invisible Me
Some days I pretend I'm in a cave. Not too deep in the cave, just far enough so I can't be seen. I can see the light of the outside world so perfectly, but it can't reach me. I can't stop my mind from wavering. Should I move further into the cave? Should I just get lost in the darkness?
Part of me wants to stay like that forever, but I know I can't because there will always be someone to drag me back into the light. I don't hate the light, I just hate being in it. It blinds me, and fills me with false senses, yet I can't look away from the light.
No, I can look away, I just don't. The light brings joyous laughs and bubbly feelings, but it's never real. I know it's only a mask, but I can't take it off. The mask isn't on my face nor my personality, but on my life.
The mask does not allow me to remove it; only to live within it until the darkness gains the upper hand once more.
The darkness is the truth, while the cave is my home. I'm at peace in my own state of attention and refuse to let people see it. The light is your secret, but the cave is mine. Invisible to the world, the cave is my light.
