IPledge

The stripes on the wall

Are hanging on the poles.

We talk to them

occasionally,

On historic days

Or special events,

But do we ever want

To say it just because

We’re free to do so?

The meaning behind

The stripes on the wall

Is justice for all,

And justice was gained

By patriot citizens

Who pledged everything,

Yet some don’t even know

The words to this sacred pledge.

Resolved: to keep the pledge,

Protect the peace of life,

To do justice,

And to love mercy.

Resolved to pledge my life

To pursuing a life

Better than what we have.

I pledge allegiance

To the flag.
