Iris

Shining so pretty I see you within;

Many believe you’re just rain,

But I say they’re thoughts are insane,

But man’s stupidity it has no end.

I know you’re in those pretty colors

Waiting for a message to carry.

You’re always so gay and merry,

Yet to see you seems to take a scholar.

They say I’m crazy; holding dead beliefs,

But each time I see your sign it brings me relief.

Because then I know you’re listening

Whenever your rainbow is glistening.

And should I have something to say,

No matter what it could be

You’ll be there for me;

You’re the highlight of my day.

And I never have to wander

I walk safely upon the earth,

And you know how much that’s worth.

No man shall put asunder

This joy I always feel.

This life is like a wheel

That is always spinning,

And with you I’m always winning.

So they can keep their thoughts;

They can lay waste to life,

But change I shall not

For I suffer no strife.

That’s because my mind is clear

For it’s you alone I hold dear.

It’s not a matter of life and death

And this I preach with every breath.

Those I need are always there;

They are in the sea and sky,

And shall be long after I die.

They are the gods of this mortal lair.
