Irony
I. You were here more often than not.
Here - my chest cavity.
No one ever tells you how to deal with loss;
As if there is a proper way to mourn.
II. Moving on would be simple
if there wasn't a gaping hole where you once were.
You occupy all of me;
Costantly.
I am not a hollow house for bones,
I am a hollow house for you.
III. Ancient Greeks believed soul mates were destined to find each other;
A fate you can not resist.
But they did not uphold their end of the bargain.
If I believed in a higher power,
This would just be another disappointment.
IV. I believe souls linger if they have unfinished business -
Or still need a hand to hold.
The after life seems terribly lonely,
So death would not be much of a relief.
You and I will always be unfinished business.
V. Apologizing does not mean one person is more right than the other-
It means pushing your ego aside,
Because you appreciate the worth of that person.
I had the notion "I'm sorry" would be enough to make you stay.
VI. I do not believe in a higher power
But i did believe in you.
And no one will ever find the antidote to grieving,
They will only hold you and say,
"I'm sorry."
