An island

The beating feet, the bridges break The beating hearts all die away Hacking away with blunted swords At something that was never yours The paths away have broken down And an island I have found An island where all feet and hearts and lies Are crushed and I am no longer tied By thoughts below or dreams so high On this island I'm alone Neglect burns sharper than the sword And years have passed since I have heard A loving whisper or friendly word And in this silence I have learned My mind befits an island My mind longs for silence It cringes at cacophony And the prison of society
