The Island Icarus

The days seemed to pass quickly, Sun rise, sun set, over and over, Finally they were done, Their freedom close at hand, One last feather, done, Now to the window, Jump, Falling then up, up, Flying, Flying to freedom, The tower now behind them, He felt free and he forgot the warning, The warning that would save his life, The sun beat down on them and the wax began to heat, Drip, Drip, Drip, Falling once again, Not to the hard ground but the blue waves so far below, Nothing to catch him, Nothing to lift him, His wings broke and now he plummeted, The white feathers now stained red floated gently to the island, The Island where his body now rested, The Island Icarus.
