Island of Memories

On an island, under the sun

The cool sand sweeps beneath my toes

No one around, nowhere to run

I see it in the direction the wind blows

My memories still remain, a glimpse of the past

The best memoirs in the world flitter around my head

It’s important to remember, for they won’t always last

Blurry visions of brown oaks and leaves in red

A better time, a better place

Sometimes memories keep you in the race
