Isn't it Beautiful?
At that moment it was just us.
Just me and the fear that exists within my mind.
It can only be described as benign masochism,
Standing at the edge of what is known and jumping into oblivion.
But it makes me feel vulnerable and everything is distorted.
If I look any longer I will undoubtedly entangle myself
Like a fly in a spider’s web.
In a hopeless labyrinth of human emotions and curiosity.
Yet somehow within it there is an incomprehensible beauty.
It is sublime.
It is obscure.
It is unclear.
Isn’t it beautiful?
It is like painting a picture that cannot be seen
It is like singing a melody that will never be heard
It is like a burying a body that will never be found
It is like a phenomenon that cannot be explained
It leaves questions unanswered and sentences unfinished
It can be cruel and hurl you in eternal graceless circles
There is a universal skepticism
About being immersed in the unknown.
It is what many of us fear most.
We do not feel comfortable with what we do not know.
Not everyone is best friends with fear.
But I swear to you in that moment
There was not any other place I would rather be
Than with someone I did not know
In a place I had never seen
Thinking of things that I had never imagined
And feeling a feeling I did not know was there
In a time I did not think I would be in.
An aching grieving beauty
But also a passionate beauty
And a raw beauty.
That is that beauty of it all
For your entire existence will be filled with things that you do not know
Isn’t it beautiful?
