Isolation:A Covid-19 Poem

Our world is crashing ten million miles an hour,

News is spreading every hour

The numbers, rising along with  our fear

In hopes that it will not touch our dear

Despite our tries, despite our efforts, we are being controlled by one so powerful

It is a battle,a battle of survival , a battle we have not yet fought before

The words fly, the doors shut, the people panic, the world is closing

Yes, we are isolated, isolated from others, but we are not  separated from fear

At home each day, my mind goes wild, just longing to be a child

Our lives on hold, on hold for now

Streets that should be welcoming have turned into a eerie scene

No laughs, no cries, because now we are all inside,

Our world is in a war, a war for survival, with our soldiers the nurses

And  commanders our doctors,

Wars have been won and they have been lost but this war, this is a war of

Our world is crashing ten million miles an hour,

News is spreading every hour

The numbers, rising along with  our fear

In hopes that it will not touch our dear

They can try,try to distance, try to isolate but nothing can isolate us from our fears.

Desperate for a sense of normality, virtual becomes our reality

Classes, meetings and greetings all seen within our screens

“6 feet, 6 feet” they say, but will 6 feet really keep this virus away

Despite our tries, despite our efforts, we are being controlled by one so powerful

It is a battle,a battle of survival , a battle we have not yet fought before

The words fly, the doors shut, the people panic, the world is closing

Yes, we are isolated, isolated from others, but we are not  separated from fear

At home each day, my mind goes wild, just longing to be a child

Our lives on hold, on hold for now

Streets that should be welcoming have turned into a eerie scene

No laughs, no cries, because now we are all inside,

Our world is in a war, a war for survival, with our soldiers the nurses

And  commanders our doctors.

Each day they fight, from dawn till dusk, risking their lives just so we can have ours
