It comes from above

The thing about unemployment

is that you learn fast

how empty

and dull

your street can be.

The thing about unemployment

is that you get to know

even the old neighbor

you used to avoid.

Life gets emptier every day

Weeks are shorter

But hours?

Oh, hours get longer

One hour unemployed lasts for a whole week

of a working person.

As the time passes,

my pockets get lonely

no pennies

no dirt

I'll soon have no pockets at all!

As I strugle with my work

(which is not working, per say)

I see the workers in my country

pretending they too do not work.

The Minister is out

the Senator is on holiday

the President?

Oh, that's a whole new story

I found my job

I found the penny that was in my pocket

I even found

the piece of gum I saved in my bag

The goverment has it

It's for my own good

I can't take care of it

The rich ones?

They have my money

They are the ones keeping my job

I am too qualified to work

Then people ask me

Why do I want to leave

I want to find the life

I built one day

But one politician sent away

I have to cross the ocean

To rescue myself from drowning

In the middle of the drought
