It Doesn't Matter

I don’t know how to love,

And I can’t tell you how to.

But please never love mediocre or halfheartedly.

Because you’ll break everyone that way.

I don’t accept promises anymore,

because even the promise promises were broken.

Call me a little kid for caring about my heart,

but don’t yell when your heart is broken.

Don’t you see

Harleen was always Harley,

The Joker just gave way,

To the insanity held within.

The truth always shows,

Within the eyes

But with some,

You can watch it flicker away.

You watched her truth flicker away,

Every time you caught a glimpse of her eyes.

Made up of words not everyone can understand

A poetry book for the hopeless held in her heart.

Takes a while to learn her,

but seconds to love her,

and forever to forget her.

She just stopped forgiving him,

She gave all her second chances already,

She started listening to the voices in her head,

And suddenly no one knew her anymore.

I find you in the pouring rain and the lightning,

Strangers-friends-lovers-strangers  start over again,

What good am I if all I can create is a projection of my own fucked mind,

So I just closed my eyes and walk away.

And my mind wanders and I wonder,

Why is the devil held within the most beautiful of people?

How do you save someone convinced that they should burn?

She threw herself at broken hearts and numbed the pain,

like a moth is drawn to a flame.

I have no purity left in me until I’m lost.

Do everything you’re scared to do you’re about to die anyway

We die and no one remembers what we want them to

Don’t waste your shitty life never making a story

Not everyone will feel as deeply as you

You can understand them,

but they don’t have to even try to understand you

This is your tragedy.

I smile on the inside about you,

but not on the outside because then I’m vulnerable.

Every song has a meaning to someone about someone,

I see you in every person I meet.

And one day after all the darkness,

she stumbled across the lightswitch

Clarity was sure to follow

In this cascading world of despair,

her native language screams in her head but isn't voiced,

LOVE,

love is her native language.

I wanted you to know,

I missed you,

But all the came out was,

How’ve you been?

And I realised with this,

Some things never belong to the past.

You can’t retrieve the lost time of a broken soul,

Tell me what colour soul do you have?

The truth is it doesn’t matter.

Because no one remembers who they were before they were broke,

They just have memories of how they would like to think they were.

Everyone is greedy,

We all want something we don’t have,

Love, money, family,

There must be something.

Kiss me or hit me but please god don’t lie to me

I don’t have reasons to like anyone in fact,

All I have are reasons to hate people,

But for some reason I love you.

We call tragedy love and a flower that injures us is the flower of love,

yet we can’t find where we went wrong,

Our love is an illusion with thorns pricking us into reality.

Everyone is searching for something,

but I’ve never liked crowds so I stopped searching.
