It Doesn’t Look It, But Its Awesome

My house is kind of falling apart,

But I’ve lived here my whole life.

And I’ll love it; it’s been my start.

Here, I’ve lived through strife.

Here, I learned how to ride a bike,

First with training wheels, then on my own.

It gave me a freedom I really did like,

Even if that’s how I broke a few bones.

Here, I had a small garden,

We planted food and flowers alike,

Year after year, again and again.

Endless growth, that’s what it was like.

Here, my dad taught me how to grill.

Though back then, it was terrifying,

(To be honest, it does still)

But I never gave up, never stopped trying.

Here, my mom taught me to sew,

At first it was dull, stitch after stitch,

And I was bad, so I moved far to slow.

But now, it’s a hobby I can’t just ditch.

Here, I learned how to change a tire,

As my dad was adamant that I learn,

In case a situation ever became that dire.

Today, I really appreciate that concern.

Here, I’ve grown up a lot.

From a little kid to a young adult.

I’ve been through more than I thought,

Though, here in this house, I love the result.

This house has raised me, so to say,

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
