Is it when you have to be stealthy?

No, probably not

When do you know it’s not?

Does he manipulate?

Does he make fun of your weight?

He tries to isolate you

From your family and friends until you’re blue

He makes you feel bad about yourself

Until you’re the size of an elf

He’s possessive

And obsessive

He uses “because I love you”

In a way to control you

When do you know the relationship is healthy?

When you’re emotionally wealthy

Does he smile when you enter?

Does he look at you like you’re his center?

If he’s your air

And you’re his prayer

Because his arms are your haven

You won’t care that he’s unshaven

He’s your confidante and you’re his

You know he’ll listen to you rant

Does he make you laugh?

To the point you’re bent in half

He treats you like a queen

Even when you’re in jeans

When he says, “Call me when you’re home safe”

He’s telling you he loves you

When he asks, “have you slept?”

He’s telling you he cares

When he understands your mood

And brings you food

                                                                       He’s telling you he knows you

He uses the term “because I love you”

To convey his absolute devotion to you
