Is it me?

Why has this emptiness again walked into the yard of my heart?

At times I find myself searching for the soul that once used to be there,

Have I changed, or am I something now shaped by what’s around me,

Whatever it is I crave my old self back, back when I laughed carelessly,

Back in the time when I had the potential to argue for what was right.

It mustn’t be only me who wants to run away, shut myself in a field of daisies,

So that I do not face people around me or more particularly my new self.

Struggling to recognize the origin of blankness that has made its place inside me,

Even after all the good that has happened, why hasn’t my breath been relieved?

Why do I have to see the same mold of tears stuck at the edge of my eyes?

It has become impossible to revert to what I was,

In the end, it was my choice to get into the shoes I can’t take off now.
