Is It Okay?

Is it okay to break someone’s heart? Is it fine to leave them with their heart torn apart? You would think it’d be bad just to leave them alone To allow them to break, alone with no home But what if they’ve changed so they’re too hard to bear? And by keeping them safe, you’re the one who will tear? Is it fine to break them just to keep yourself whole? Or must you stay with them like you’re chained to a pole? And then there’s the ones you love but must leave You want them to stay, but with you they can’t be So you tear up yourself and allow them to go But you’re tearing up them when you tell them to grow So I must ask, is it fine? Let them break? When you know it’s the step that you just have to take
