Martin Luther King had a dream
For his people to be freed
To be able to walk into any place
And be looked at beyond just race
It wasn't easy but it was worth the chase
Setting the groundwork for every other race
To shape America to what it is today
So race and gender wouldn't effect pay
So every person could look to their left side
And know they have the same rights
Where cases like Brown vs. Board of Education
Made sure every injustice was brought to light
So no matter what problems the country is facing
Every child had a right to education
To not be looked down on because of color
For us all to be equal to one another
Where we could walk as sister and brother
Martin Luther King had a dream
For his people to be freed
