It starts in a lake,
It starts in a lake,
it ends in my death.
I'm running,
faster and faster.
Fear is running
right alongside me.
I see the woman,
I run from her.
Her mask has fallen,
her charade is lost.
Trees fly by,
minutes pass.
Out of breath,
my time has come.
I feel it,
though I don't know why.
I see the lake,
and what comes next.
I know I'll trip,
and just like that,
I fall to the ground,
and lay for a second.
I writhe on the ground,
trying to get away.
She stops running,
cause she knows she's won.
I stop,
and lay still.
My heart beats,
in my chest.. through my body.
She comes closer.
Stands above me.
I know this women,
I know her well.
My mother.
She laughs at my tears,
and steps on my hair.
I know its over.
I know I've lost,
but I keep fighting.
Kicking, screaming, biting.
It's useless, she's won.
I escape her grasp,
and run towards the lake.
To my right and down the hill,
that was my mistake.
I stumble and tumble,
towards the water.
I grew up on this lake,
I'll die on this lake.
She tackles me,
this big woman.
She laughs manically,
and holds me to the ground.
She's talking to me now.
I don't want to listen.
I think back on my life,
and thank God for everything.
Her words are dead to me,
nothing matters anymore.
I wait for her to finish speaking
and to finish me.
She grabs my arm,
and yanks me up.
I'm on my feet,
but in her grasp.
She pulls me towards the water,
bruising my skin.
I struggle,
but it's hopeless.
She pushes me down the bank,
into the muck,
and deeper water.
And then she's gone.
I look around,
but she's disappeared.
I feel hope,
and I start to swim to land.
But then, I feel a current.
A current in a lake?
No. It's her.
She's back.
But not herself.
I feel her tugging,
pulling, yanking.
I don't give up, but the fight is lost.
She's stronger now.
She wants me dead,
that's what she'll get.
That's what she'll get.
Crying, dying,
I curse the God above.
My stomach churns,
my vision is blurry.
I stop fighting,
and just go,
With the flow,
of my tormenting mother.
Under and deeper,
deeper and under.
Down I go,
into my mother's arms.
She holds me tight.
Strokes my face and my hair.
I see her smiling,
and think maybe it was a joke.
She whispers sweet words,
I love you's
and forever's.
I am her daughter.
She'll keep me safe,
and never let go,
hold me tight,
and love me so.
My imagination
provides me with comfort,
as my lungs fill with murky water,
and my life is sucked out of me.
It doesn't hurt,
it's not so bad.
My imagined mother,
Takes the pain away.
But then I blink,
and strain to see her better.
I see her face,
but not so sweet.
Malicious and gross,
distorted with sick pleasure,
of watching her daughter die
in her arms.
It starts to hurt,
then it's real bad.
I choke and gasp,
but it gets worse.
Everything goes black
and I feel myself going limp.
I drowned by her hands,
and that was the worst.
