as it turns out

So as it turns out,

I love tomatoes now

And I drink wine on Monday nights

Even though I’m not allowed

So as it turns out,

You weren’t far off

When you told me at some point

The things I used to hate,

May evolve to fit my taste

Acquired, im still not sure how

You wouldn’t know,

But I drink my coffee black

If I’m feeling fancy i'll add a splash of milk

Oat, to be exact

I know you would poke fun

That I don’t drink the “real stuff”

But it makes my stomach growl

See unlike you,

I gained a liking towards things I found

Disgraceful to the palette

But you were like the decadent box of chocolates

My parents used to keep out

I'd always sneak them under my shirt,

when they glanced about

Similar to you,

how I would sneak you under my blouse

While I grew up,

You grew out

Of all our old sayings

And topics to spat about

I grew up

But I’m far from grown now

See, I may drink wine and roast coffee so bitter

It evens me out

And I may love tomatoes,

But you know that isn’t what this is about

You know me better

Than to think I could every grow tired

Of you and your foul mouth
