It Wasn’t A Game

I truly did love you once

I’d constantly dream of you

and fantasized our kisses

I wished on a shooting star

and even cried over not having you

But these years wear on you

Like a heavy wet blanket

and what’s left

Are wrinkles that cut to the root

We are opposites but the same

Wanting a similar end

But the journey there is split

You want the road every one else takes

I want one off in the distance no one has seen before

I still love you

With every pore on my skin

But this is starting to feel too normal

Too predictable

Too much of a worn out path
