It wasn’t supposed to be this way, By Rose
I look back I see my youth gone
I look back and I wonder where the years went
I look back and I remember the promises made
I remember the forevers became the nevers
I remember the young girl getting to know the young man
Wishing for a good future
Two young people knowing nothing about life or love
Like two blind people feeling their way in the darkness hand in hand
Those two people became three in a very short time
Then they became four and soon after that five
Not happy but content only needing each other or so she thought
Until she found out about an intruder in the relationship
Her heart was broken and anger set in because she was never
Number one she was always two or three or maybe more
Always taking the back seat to what should have been her thrown.
Now the years have passed and now the young girl is no longer young
The young man is no longer young the offspring of this union has offspring of their own
The at one time young girl now realizes there is no worse blind person than
That one who refuses to see what is right before her eyes lies, betrayal not from one side but from both you see she understand that she isn’t perfect
All she wanted was love nothing more nothing less she never asked for riches she never asked for material stuff just love but it seems to be a commodity too expensive to obtain because it has to have respect, mutual love, truth and most of all fidelity
Since her heart is broken there is a wall so high and so thick that it will be hard to penetrate
I look back and I see what is missing happiness and love and I think
It wasn't supposed to be this way
