It is the words whispered&

It is the words whispered

In the dark of night

Before light has touched the earth

By deceiving lips

It is the words spoken

Through gritted teeth

As his fist connects with her face

Leaving her to say she tripped

It is the lies that surround you

like water

and you are drowning

from this type of pain

This is not love

Love is a motherholding her daughter

As her face fills with tears

her heart fills despair

her soul with pain

Love is a friend who is present

who listens with great intent

who gives more than take

who does not not know the evil of the world

Love is his hands holding yours

Carefully tracing the scars

where others had caused you pain

making you believe life does get better

Because I love you is not an excuse

But an explanation of selflessness
