It's All I'll Ever Be

I'm used to the hand-me-downs,

from two older brothers

to their younger sister.

To the derisive laughter

of my peers at my fraying sleeves

or overlarge pants

But I'll have what they didn't have:

The power to wear them confidently.

Now, in my last year of high school,

I hold my head up high, basking in

self- confidence, wearing my own clothes,

proud of my hard life,

knowing that even with their pampered lives

and lipsticked lips,

they will never be as flawless as I.
