It's All Just an Act

Light leaking into the darkness

A quiet audience waiting

My hands shaking by my side

My heart beating rapidly

I take a deep breath

I gather my courage

I step in front of the eyes of many

I pause

My hands are clammy

I squint into the spotlight

I spot my friends

I reassure myself

I think, "It is going to be ok."

I pause once again

Bracing myself for the scene

I let myself go and

I act for my friends

I act for the audience
